| Reverse description | Printed entirely in green intaglio, the reverse is dominated by a central oval vignette of Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's Virginia estate, set amid trees and framed by fine lathe-work guilloche. Large numeral 2 and the word TWO appear in the four corners over an elaborate scrollwork underprint, with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST inscribed on a scroll above the vignette beneath the arched legend THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
