Obverse description The national emblem of Singapore is centrally placed in the field, depicting a lion passant and a tiger flanking a shield, surmounted by a crescent moon and five stars. The date 1997 appears in the exergue beneath the emblem. Encircling the design, the country name is inscribed in four official languages: English (SINGAPORE), Malay (SINGAPURA), Tamil (சிங்கப்பூர்), and Chinese (新加坡), arranged around the periphery.
