Fiji's tree frog series belongs to the broader wave of Pacific island wildlife coinage that accelerated after 2010, when several sovereign mints began aggressively marketing legal-tender collector issues to numismatic audiences in Europe and North America. The Reserve Bank of Fiji has issued dozens of such pieces, most produced under contract by the Pobjoy Mint or the Perth Mint rather than struck domestically.
