2 Dollars Terracotta Army

This issue belongs to a wave of Chinese cultural export coins produced during the 2010s, when several Pacific island nations — Fiji prominent among them — entered licensing arrangements to strike collectibles for the Chinese commemorative market. The Terracotta Army itself was discovered in 1974 by farmers digging a well near Xi'an, and the subsequent excavation revealed over 8,000 individual figures across three pits, none of which were publicly known to exist until that accidental find.

Fiji's role here is nominal. These pieces were designed, distributed, and sold primarily through dealers servicing mainland Chinese and diaspora collectors.
