Reverse description The reverse presents a portrait bust of the celebrated illusionist and escape artist Harry Houdini (1874–1926), rendered in high relief facing slightly left, occupying the left portion of the field. To the right, a magician's top hat and wand with stars appear as symbolic attributes of Houdini's craft. The name HARRY HOUDINI is inscribed in stylized decorative lettering across the upper right field, with the life dates 1874–1926 below the name. The issue year 2011 is engraved in the lower exergue flanked by two short dashes.

Additional information

Palau's "Magic Coin" series exploited a novelty technology — a transparent window insert embedded within the planchet — that generated strong secondary market demand when the series launched in the late 2000s. The 2011 issue continues that format, produced under Palau's longstanding arrangement with the Austrian Mint, which has manufactured the bulk of Palau's collector coinage since the 1990s.
