Fiji's 2012 coinage reform eliminated the dollar coins entirely in favor of a restructured smaller-denomination set, making the reappearance of a two-dollar coin in 2014 a deliberate policy reversal driven by demand for a higher-value circulating piece. The "large type" designation distinguishes this from an earlier, dimensionally smaller two-dollar issue in the same series.
