| Reverse description | Central field presents a high-relief full-length effigy of Confucius in traditional flowing robes, the philosopher depicted standing with hands raised in a classical gesture of contemplation, holding a scroll or tablet, rendered in a sculptural style closely modelled after iconic statuary representations of the sage. To the left of the figure, the Chinese characters 孔子 (Kǒng Zǐ, meaning Confucius) are inscribed in the field. To the right, a vertical column of Chinese calligraphic text reproduces a celebrated passage from the Analects (Lunyu), recounting the autobiographical stages of Confucius's intellectual and moral development across his life. |

Kong Zi — the Latinized "Confucius" derives from Kongfuzi, "Master Kong" — was born in the state of Lu in 551 BC and died having never witnessed the widespread adoption of the ethical and social philosophy he spent decades teaching. His influence came posthumously, institutionalized under Han Emperor Wu around 136 BC when Confucianism was elevated as state orthodoxy. Fiji's inclusion in a growing market of Chinese-themed collector silver reflects the Pacific island nation's longstanding diplomatic and commercial ties with the People's Republic, formalized in 1975.
