Description de l’avers Vignette of Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture, sitting within a large “2,” behind which is a sheaf of wheat and a scene of a farmer guiding a plow being pulled by a horse on which there is a rider and another scene of workers harvesting wheat; oval portrait of man in bottom-right corner, handwritten serial number at middle-left edge, near bottom edge is handwritten signature of “Dr. D[avid] Weir,” company treasurer and a former principal of the Edgeworth Female Seminary in Greensboro.
