The Fender Telecaster entered production in 1950 as the Broadcaster — renamed after Gretsch objected to the trademark conflict with their Broadkaster drum kit. The Solomon Islands has issued a long-running series of instrument-themed bullion and collector strikes under legal-tender authority, a licensing arrangement that has nothing to do with the islands' domestic economy and everything to do with the global commemorative silver market centered on European distributors.
KM# 650 is one of dozens of such issues from this series. Mintage figures for these are rarely published by the issuer.
