Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a floral crown with ornate floral and foliate detailing, a drop earring, and a pearl necklace, rendered in high relief with an antiqued finish. The legend QUEEN ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper periphery, while NIUE TWO DOLLARS curves along the left field and 2oz 999 FINE SILVER along the right field. The date 2021 appears in the lower exergue beneath the portrait. The effigy reflects a mature, stylized likeness consistent with contemporary commemorative portraiture used for Niue issues.

Additional information

Niue has operated as a prolific bullion and commemorative issuing authority under New Zealand's monetary umbrella since the 1990s, licensing its sovereign name to the New Zealand Mint for collector series that have no circulation intent whatsoever. This piece draws on the account in Acts 27–28, in which Paul's vessel ran aground off Malta during a storm en route to Rome — one of the most precisely narrated sea voyages in ancient literature, complete with wind directions, crew counts, and a fourteen-day drift across the Adriatic.

The two-troy-ounce format places it squarely in the high-relief collector bullion category that the New Zealand Mint refined through the 2010s.
