| Reverse description | Central design depicting a stylised ancient Egyptian scarab beetle rendered in high relief in the antiqued finish, its pronotum inlaid with a genuine turquoise stone cabochon displaying characteristic matrix veining, and its thorax decorated with finely engraved parallel striations. Above the beetle, a large solar disc is shown in plain relief. Flanking the central scarab on either side are symmetrically arranged Egyptian motifs comprising cobras with spread hoods, stylised feathered wings, and decorative papyrus-form elements executed in intricate low relief. The lower portion of the field features a register of lotus blossom and architectural frieze ornaments, all set within a plain circular border, with no inscriptions on the reverse. |
