Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicting the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem with finely detailed hair arranged in curls. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left periphery, NIUE along the upper field, and TWO DOLLARS along the right periphery. The date 2019 appears in the lower field, with the engraver's initials IRB incused below the truncation of the bust. The field exhibits a subtle satin finish with a soft pearlescent quality.

Additional information

Niue's role as a Pacific issuer of commemorative silver is almost entirely a licensing arrangement — the island's GDP would not support a sovereign mint program, and these pieces are produced under contract, typically by the New Zealand Mint or the Perth Mint, for international collector markets. The coins are legal tender on paper but have never circulated and never will.
