| Reverse description | Rectangular colored flan bearing a detailed polychrome portrait of Red Cloud (Maȟpíya Lúta, 1822–1909), the celebrated Oglala Lakota chief and war leader, depicted in a three-quarter frontal view facing the viewer. The portrait, rendered in a painterly photorealistic style with warm earth tones, shows the chief wearing traditional dress including a dark vest, white shirt, and a red neck cloth, with long dark hair falling over his shoulders. A circular peace medal is visible at his chest. The subject's name is inscribed on a raised gold-toned rectangular plaque in the lower field: 'RED CLOUD'. The entire composition is framed by the same ornate geometric border as the obverse, consistent with Tokelauan decorative motifs. |
