| Obverse description | Diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, occupying a raised central medallion. | Reverse description | A highly detailed, high-relief depiction of Quetzalcóatl, the Mesoamerican feathered serpent deity, rendered in antiqued silver. The serpent's fearsome fanged head, adorned with elaborate scrollwork and Aztec ornamental motifs, dominates the centre of the field, its eye inset with a genuine amethyst cabochon gemstone. The creature's body coils dynamically through a dense field of overlapping quetzal feathers that radiate outward across the entire reverse. To the lower right, a stepped Aztec pyramid is visible in the background. The curved legends AZTEC DRAGON and QUETZALCOATL arc along the upper border. |
