Niue's numismatic program has functioned since the 1970s as a revenue mechanism — the island's GDP from coin licensing fees is not trivial. "Plane Crazy" is a 1928 Walt Disney short, technically predating Mickey Mouse's sound debut in "Steamboat Willie" later that same year, though both were produced in close succession and Disney has long disputed the precise sequencing for trademark purposes.
