The large numeral 2 with the word DOLLARS appears prominently to the upper right of the architectural vignette. The country name CANADA arcs along the upper border, while the commemorative date range 1996–2016 is inscribed within a cartouche at the base, marking the twentieth anniversary of the toonie.
