| Beschrijving voorzijde | Gold-plated central disc bearing the right-facing draped bust effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, engraved by Susan Taylor, wearing a pearl necklace and earring. The outer ring, struck in silver, carries the legend ELIZABETH II to the left and D · G · REGINA to the right, with the commemorative date range 1867–2017 arching across the top. A small maple leaf device appears at the bottom of the outer ring, serving as a decorative separator. | Beschrijving keerzijde | The gold-plated central disc depicts a sweeping wilderness landscape in which the aurora borealis illuminates the upper field above a treeline of coniferous forest silhouetted along a calm lake shore. A lone canoe with two paddlers is rendered in fine detail at the lower centre of the disc, evoking Canada's natural heritage and the spirit of the national anthem. The engraver's initials TH (Timothy Hsia) appear to the right within the inner field. The outer silver ring bears the legend CANADA arching across the top and 2 DOLLARS arranged across the lower portion, framing the central design. |
