Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a detailed bird's-eye panoramic view of medieval Oslo as it appeared in 1567, engraved after a historic cartographic source, with densely packed timber buildings, a prominent church steeple surmounted by a cross at centre, and a fortified gate visible at lower left. Above the townscape, the legend OSLO 1567 is inscribed in the field. Surrounding the central design, the arc legend OSLO NUMISMATISKE FORENING runs along the upper periphery in bold incuse lettering. Along the lower arc, the founding and jubilee years · 1972 ✠ 2022 · are separated by a crossed-hammers mint mark, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Oslo Numismatic Association. The engraver's initials IR appear at lower right within the design.

Aanvullende informatie

Niue has operated as a prolific licensing vehicle for commemorative silver issues since the 1990s, with the New Zealand government holding responsibility for its foreign affairs and the island's name appearing on hundreds of collector pieces that have no connection to local circulation. This particular issue was struck for the Numismatic Association of Oslo, a Norwegian collector organization, as a society medallion in coin format — a common arrangement whereby clubs commission sovereign-backed legal tender pieces for prestige and secondary market value.

The KM# 437 attribution places it within a catalog sequence so densely populated with Niue commemoratives that Krause has struggled to maintain consistent numbering across editions.
