| Beschrijving voorzijde | At upper right, a circular inset medallion depicts the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, diademed and draped, as engraved by Ian Rank-Broadley, surrounded by the legend ELIZABETH II / NIUE ISLAND 2013 and the fineness mark Ag 999. Occupying the left and central portion of the field is an elaborate high-relief composition featuring an ornate Baroque portal with richly decorated pilasters, flanked by figural caryatids and surmounted by a heraldic cartouche. At the centre of the portal, set within an arched oval frame, is an inlaid polished agate crystal displaying warm amber, ochre, and charcoal banding. The right half of the field transitions into a deeply textured depiction of a subterranean cave interior, with stalactites and rock formations rendered in antiqued relief. The denomination 2 DOLLARS appears in relief along the lower edge of the field. |
