| 裏面の説明 | The reverse presents a full-color reproduction of the venerated icon of the Mother of God of Kalwaria, set within an arched panel at the center of the flan. The Virgin Mary is depicted crowned and adorned in an elaborately jeweled blue robe embroidered with golden floral motifs, holding the Christ Child who is similarly crowned and pressed tenderly to her cheek in the Eleusa (tenderness) tradition. A large white rose occupies the lower foreground, symbolizing purity. Flanking the arched icon panel are milled rose-branch reliefs in the silver field, and the legend MOTHER OF GOD OF KALWARIA arcs along the upper border in raised lettering. |

Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, the Polish pilgrimage site housing the venerated image of Our Lady of Kalwaria, was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999 — one of very few sacred landscapes to receive that designation on the basis of both cultural and architectural significance. Tokelau, a New Zealand-administered Pacific territory with no currency of its own, has long served as an issuing authority for commemorative numismatic programs with no connection to its resident population of roughly 1,500 people.
The KM#244 assignment places this within a prolific Tokelau commemorative run targeting the European Catholic collector market through the mid-2010s.
