| Reverse description | A highly detailed, high-relief sculptural depiction of the Minotaur, the half-man, half-bull creature of Greek mythology, shown in a dynamic rearing pose with muscular human body, bovine head bearing large curved horns and a nose ring, and cloven hooves. The beast is rendered with exceptional three-dimensional depth against a mirror-polished field, conveying ferocity and movement. The Latin inscription MINOTAURUS appears vertically along the left side of the design. The rim is bordered by the same Greek meander pattern as the obverse, evoking the ancient Minoan labyrinth setting of the myth. |
