The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank issued this piece as part of a broader commemorative program honoring British monarchs — a curious exercise for a regional central bank whose member states were, by 2003, actively debating republican status. Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, and others had long complicated relationships with the Crown that made celebratory British monarch issues something of a political balancing act.

Henry V's connection to the Eastern Caribbean is, of course, nonexistent. He died in 1422, seven decades before Columbus reached the region.
