| Reverse description | A highly detailed, deeply struck high-relief depiction of Hera, queen of the Olympian gods, seated upon an ornate throne set within a classical Greek temple interior flanked by fluted columns. The goddess is draped in flowing robes and holds a sceptre topped with a pomegranate in her right hand, while her left hand rests upon a large lion recumbent at her side; a peacock, her sacred bird, is visible at the lower right amid a cluster of spherical ornamentation. Greek meander (key) borders frame the lower and inner portions of the design, and the name HERA appears in a ribbon cartouche at the bottom of the field. The mintmark P, for the Perth Mint, is visible to the left of the throne. |
