Henderson Island, one of four islands in the Pitcairn group, is a raised coral atoll and UNESCO World Heritage Site notable for its near-complete isolation — no permanent human population, no regular supply vessels. The fruit dove endemic to Henderson was first formally described in 1922 and remains one of the few bird species found nowhere else on earth. Pitcairn's administered territory issues collector coinage almost exclusively, as the permanent population of Adamstown has never exceeded roughly fifty people, making a functional domestic circulating currency economically absurd.
