Aanvullende informatie

DC Comics licensing agreements with smaller sovereign mints became a minor industry through the 2010s and into the 2020s, with Niue — a self-governing island nation in free association with New Zealand — functioning as one of the more active issuers of pop-culture bullion coinage. The arrangement suits both parties: Niue gains seigniorage revenue without the infrastructure demands of a conventional monetary system, and the licensee moves product to collectors who would never otherwise acquire legal tender from a Pacific island of roughly 1,500 people.

KM#4242 is one of several DC issues struck by the New Zealand Mint on Niue's behalf that year.
