Aanvullende informatie

Cook Islands has issued commemorative silver in Franz Schubert's name before, but this 2014 piece falls in the year marking the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Wiener Musikverein — the concert hall most closely associated with Schubert's posthumous reputation. His music was almost entirely unknown during his lifetime; the first complete scholarly edition of his works wasn't undertaken until the 1880s, decades after his death at 31.
