| 正面描述 | Right-facing diademed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the portrait by Susan Taylor, depicting the Queen wearing a tiara and with elaborately styled hair. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 2 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower periphery. The anniversary dates 1988 and 2013, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Silver Maple Leaf program, flank the effigy at mid-field to the left and right respectively. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a smooth field. |

The Fractional Silver Maple Leaf series was introduced by the Royal Canadian Mint partly as a response to collector demand for smaller, more accessible silver bullion pieces, and partly to compete directly with fractional offerings from the Perth and Austrian mints that had eaten into the Canadian market through the 2000s. The .9999 fineness specification — four nines rather than the more common three — had by this point become a point of genuine competitive distinction for the RCM, achieved through an additional refining pass that most sovereign mints declined to pursue on cost grounds.
