| Obverse description | A large high-relief bust of George Washington faces three-quarters right, rendered in fine engraving style with powdered wig and period military dress, occupying the majority of the field. A curved arc of thirteen five-pointed stars frames the left periphery of the design, referencing the original American colonies.
