Additional information

Niue has functioned since the 1990s as a licensing vehicle for the New Zealand Mint, issuing commemorative coinage under its sovereign authority with no expectation of domestic circulation — the island's population hovers around 1,600. This Easter egg-shaped release is among dozens of novelty bullion pieces Niue has authorized annually, with collector appeal driven entirely by the secondary market rather than any monetary function.
