The Duke of Wellington connection to the Eastern Caribbean is tenuous at best — this is a commemorative issue capitalizing on the bicentenary of Wellington's early military campaigns, produced for the collector market rather than circulation. The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank has periodically licensed its coinage authority for exactly this kind of third-party commemorative, where the issuing jurisdiction provides nominal legitimacy and the coins are destined for presentation packaging rather than trade.
