Issued under Niue's long-running licensing arrangement that has made the island's coinage program one of the more commercially aggressive in the Pacific, this piece is part of a series tied to the Back to the Future film franchise. Niue has leveraged its status as a New Zealand realm territory — and therefore a legitimate coin-issuing authority — to produce collector silver almost entirely divorced from domestic circulation.
