Belize issued this piece a full four decades after the 1953 coronation, timing the release to coincide with the 40th anniversary. By 1993 the country had been independent for twelve years, making the choice to commemorate a British royal ceremony a deliberate nod to Commonwealth ties rather than any residual colonial obligation.
