| Description du revers | The reverse displays a full-colour printed portrait of George Washington in his Colonial military uniform, depicted as a young officer in a blue coat with red facings and gold trim, holding a musket and wearing a tricorn hat, based on Charles Willson Peale's 1772 portrait. The coloured central design is set within a recessed circular field, surrounded by a matte silver border bearing eight five-pointed stars evenly spaced around the circumference. A colour-printed star bearing the design of the American flag appears to the right of the figure, and a blue enamel banner bearing the word COLONEL is positioned at the lower centre. The arched legends GEORGE WASHINGTON above and AN AMERICAN LIFE below complete the design in the outer border. |
