| Obverse description | The obverse of this oval proof coin features the diademed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing profile, set within an ornate cartouche of Baroque-style scrollwork and acanthus foliate relief. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field, with the inscription 'ELIZABETH II' incuse below the bust. In the lower portion of the oval field, the open halves of a Fabergé-style egg are depicted on an elaborate decorative stand with fine guilloche and rocaille ornamentation. The legend 'NIUE ISLAND' arcs across the upper field and '2 DOLLARS' and '2010' appear along the left and right margins respectively. |
