Aanvullende informatie

Bermuda issued a run of wildlife-themed silver dollars in the early 1990s aimed squarely at the collector market, with the longsnout seahorse chosen partly for its genuine presence in Bermudian waters and partly for its obvious appeal to international buyers. These were never intended for circulation and were sold primarily through the Bermuda Monetary Authority's collector programs and overseas distributors.

The longsnout seahorse, Hippocampus reidi, is native to the western Atlantic and is commonly found among Bermuda's seagrass beds — so the choice, at least, is zoologically honest.
