| Reverse description | The reverse commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Battles of Coral and Balmoral (1968), depicting two Australian soldiers standing in tall jungle grass, rifles raised, set against a dramatic sunburst radiating outward across the field. Arranged in a fan-like pattern around the soldiers, engraved on the rays, are the names of individual servicemen who took part in the battles. The circular legend around the periphery reads SACRIFICE · INITIATIVE · BRAVERY · COURAGE · MATESHIP, with CORAL and BALMORAL inscribed in the lower field flanking a prominent '50 Years' anniversary cartouche. The inscription 1968 / We Will / Remember Them appears to the right of centre, and a red Swarovski crystal is set at the base of the '50 Years' motif. |
