| Beschrijving keerzijde | The brass-coloured centre features a profile view of a World War I Brodie helmet in the upper portion, beneath which blooms a large poppy in full relief, accompanied by foliage and a poppy bud, with the engraver's initials LM visible in the lower right field. The inscription ARMISTICE spans the centre of the core in large letters, partially overlaid by the helmet motif. The outer nickel-plated steel ring displays the legends REMEMBER and SOUVENIR flanking two maple leaf privy marks at the base, with poppy blossoms decorating the left and right quadrants of the ring. |

Issued on the centenary of the November 11, 1918 armistice ending World War I, this circulation commemorative replaced the standard toonie design for 2018. Canada lost over 60,000 dead in that war — a staggering toll for a nation of under eight million — and the centennial prompted one of the most extensive federal commemoration programs in recent memory. The RCM struck these for general circulation rather than collector sets alone, meaning they passed through hands and cash registers across the country throughout the anniversary year.
