Anubis issues from this period are part of a broader wave of privately designed bullion-adjacent collector pieces struck under license by small Pacific island sovereignties — Solomon Islands among the most prolific. The coins are legal tender in name only; no $2 face value has ever circulated in the islands in this form, and the issuing authority's role is essentially administrative.
Production was almost certainly handled by a European private mint, most likely B.H. Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt in Munich, which struck numerous themed pieces for Pacific issuers during this period under similar specifications.
