Niue has operated a prolific licensed commemorative program for decades, issuing coins bearing its name under agreement with New Zealand while retaining virtually no connection to the subjects depicted. Antonín Panenka's contribution to the 1976 European Championship final — a softly chipped penalty down the center as the goalkeeper dived — was so unexpected and so widely copied that his name became the official footballing term for the technique in most languages.
The coin was issued forty years after that moment in Belgrade.
