The lunar calendar series has been a cornerstone of Perth Mint production since 1996, and the Tiger issues carry particular weight in that lineage — the 1998 Series I Tiger remains one of the most aggressively hoarded of the original run, driving secondary market premiums that the Mint clearly noted when planning Series III allocations. The 2022 issue arrived during the final stretch of COVID-era bullion demand, when silver two-ounce antique-finish pieces were moving through authorized distributors faster than stock could be replenished.
The "6th Portrait" designation reflects Jody Clark's effigy of Elizabeth II, introduced in 2015 and the last to be authorized before her death in September 2022.
