Australia's Tokyo Olympics coinage was struck in 2020 for Games that ultimately didn't happen that year — the COVID-19 pandemic forced the IOC to postpone the event to 2021, making this entire series a quiet artifact of that disruption. The pad-printed colour application, applied directly to the coin's surface rather than through enamel inlay, was a relatively recent technique the RAM had been refining through its coloured circulation issues of the late 2010s.
