The antique finish is applied chemically after striking to simulate aged silver, a process Perth has refined across multiple series to meet collector demand for visual depth that standard proof finishes don't provide.
The 6th Portrait of Elizabeth II, by Jody Clark, was introduced in 2015 and remained in use on Australian coinage through the end of her reign in 2022.
