The platypus has appeared on the circulating two-dollar coin since 1988, but this Perth Mint bullion issue exists in an entirely different register — struck in fine silver at a weight and purity that make the face value purely nominal. Perth's so-called "sixth portrait" of Elizabeth II, sculpted by Jody Clark, was introduced to Australian coinage in 2019, making this among the later issues to carry it before the Queen's death in September 2022 ended the series entirely.
