背面描述 A kotuku (white heron, Ardea modesta) rendered in finely detailed relief, depicted in full flight with wings broadly extended, occupying the central field. The bird is framed by a continuous border of stylised Maori koru scrollwork motifs encircling the upper and lateral periphery, referencing indigenous New Zealand artistic tradition. The denomination inscription TWO DOLLARS arcs along the lower portion of the field in bold raised lettering.

附加信息

New Zealand's $2 coin has been brass since the 1990 decimalization revision that abolished the 1-cent and 2-cent pieces and resized the remaining denominations. The 4th portrait of Elizabeth II, by Ian Rank-Broadley, was introduced across Commonwealth coinage progressively through the late 1990s and carried through until Jody Clark's 5th portrait began replacing it from 2015 onward — making this issue a transitional year depending on mint run timing.

The milled edge designation distinguishes this from the intermittent smooth-edge commemorative $2 pieces the Reserve Bank has issued. KM#120 is the workhorse circulation type.
