| Additional information |
The Wedge-Tailed Eagle bullion series, launched by the Perth Mint in 2016, was designed to compete directly with established silver bullion programs — particularly the American Silver Eagle and the Canadian Maple Leaf — in the international investor market. The 2018 issue is the third in the series. Perth's decision to pursue .9999 fineness rather than the more common .999 was a deliberate marketing differentiator, matching the purity standard of their own Gold Kangaroo program and Canada's Maple Leaf.
The coin carries a two-dollar face value under Australian legal tender law, though its bullion value renders that figure purely nominal.
