Beschrijving voorzijde The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, sculpted by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicted as a right-facing draped bust wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The legend ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2 DOLLARS arcs around the upper periphery, with the designer's initials IRB appearing below the portrait truncation. The field is plain, presenting the portrait in high relief against a polished background.

Aanvullende informatie

The pad-printing process used on this issue — applying color directly to the coin's surface via a silicone pad rather than enamel or inlay — was still relatively novel in Australian numismatic production during the mid-2000s. Perth Mint adopted the technique aggressively during this period to differentiate its bullion and collector silver from competitors, and the Kookaburra series, already a flagship product since 1990, was a natural vehicle for the experiment. Pad-printed color is more vulnerable to handling than cloisonné enamel, making pristine survivors meaningfully scarcer than raw mintage figures suggest.
