| Reverse description | Two kookaburras perched side by side on a branch, rendered in high relief with fine feather detailing against a deeply mirrored proof field. A native eucalyptus sprig with leaves rises to the right of the birds. The Perth Mint's P mintmark appears to the left of the central design. The legend THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA arcs along the upper periphery, with 2 OZ. 999 SILVER continuing along the right side. The date 2000 is inscribed at the base, flanked by two pellets, with the entire design framed by a fine inner beaded border. |

| Additional information |
The Australian Kookaburra series launched in 1990 as one of the Perth Mint's early forays into the bullion coin market, competing directly with the Canadian Maple Leaf and American Silver Eagle for collector and investor attention. The 2-troy-ounce format — which this piece represents — was introduced to offer a higher-silver-content option within the series alongside the standard 1 oz issue.
Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth portrait of Elizabeth II, adopted across Australian coinage from 1999, appears here in its first full year of use on the Kookaburra series.
