Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as engraved by Dora de Pédery-Hunt, depicting the Queen at approximately 64 years of age wearing the royal diadem, a necklace, and earrings. The portrait, representing the third definitive effigy of the Queen used on Canadian coinage, is rendered in fine relief with carefully detailed regalia. The legend ELIZABETH II 2 DOLLARS 1994 is inscribed around the periphery of the field.

Aanvullende informatie

Canada's 1994 gold bullion toonie occupies an odd corner of RCM history — it was part of a short-lived fractional gold program that struggled to find a retail audience, sandwiched awkwardly between the dominant Maple Leaf series and the emerging collector market. The denomination itself was largely nominal; no serious bullion buyer was entering the market at one-twentieth ounce. Production figures for this date were modest, and the series was quietly discontinued without fanfare.
