Reverse description A kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) is depicted perched upright on a textured branch, its plumage rendered in exceptional detail with fine engraving highlighting the bird's distinctive markings and beak. A second, smaller kookaburra appears in lower relief behind and to the left, suggesting depth within the composition. The circular legend 'THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA 2 OZ. 999 SILVER' arcs along the upper and right periphery, separated by a beaded inner border. The date '1997' appears in the lower exergue, flanked by small dot ornaments.
