Obverse description The obverse displays the full national coat of arms of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, centrally positioned within the field. The shield depicts a British vessel in full sail above waves, flanked by a flamingo as dexter supporter and a marlin as sinister supporter, both rendered in fine relief. A helmet and wreath surmount the shield, above which a hand grasps a conch shell. A scroll at the base bears the national motto. The circular legend COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS arcs along the upper periphery, with the date appearing at the bottom, the whole enclosed within a beaded border.
